Learn all about them, and how scientists study them, from new CWS instructor Dr. David Shiffman. This fall, he’ll be teaching a biology and ecology of sharks course that includes an optional field component, letting CWS students spend 3 days studying sharks in Florida!

Presenter Bio
Dr. David Shiffman is an interdisciplinary marine conservation biologist based in Washington, DC, where he studies endangered species of sharks and how to protect them. His more than 70 peer reviewed scientific journal articles have been cited over 2,500 times, and his public facing writing has appeared in National Geographic, the Washington Post, nationally syndicated op-Ed’s, and a monthly column in SCUBA diving magazine. He is the author of “why sharks matter” from Johns Hopkins University Press, and he invites you to follow him on social media @whysharksmatter where he’s always happy to answer any questions anyone has about sharks.
