Quinn works with individuals and teams to develop strategic plans and to improve their conservation leadership skills through the framework known as Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation (Conservation Standards). Quinn has worked for the Wildlife Conservation Society and several private consulting companies.
He and two other conservation planning experts created a partnership called NaturePlan, and together they are working to improve the practice of conservation throughout North America and beyond. Since 2011, he has relied on the Conservation Standards in his day-to-day work to conserve greater sage-grouse and other sagebrush steppe species on a southern Idaho landscape. In 2012, Quinn received advanced coach training in the Conservation Standards process and has since trained individuals from four continents and facilitated and co-facilitated 13 workshops.
Projects include: assisting the Idaho Department of Fish and Game to revise its State Wildlife Action Plan; supporting the development of strategic plans for the U.S. Navy on San Clemente Island, the New England Aquarium in Massachusetts, and the Texas Wildlife Association; co-facilitating a training workshop for San Diego Zoo staff; and co-facilitating workshops at both the International and North American Congresses for the Society for Conservation Biology. In 2017, Quinn co-led a coaching and facilitation workshop in which he trained others how to lead teams through the Conservation Standards process.
